IVECO Eurotech (1999 \u2013 2006)
\nIn Brazil, Iveco began its activities in September 1997, implementing its own network of exclusive dealerships and technical assistance services responsible for selling vehicles imported from Europe and Argentina. The task of adapting the brand\u2019s global standards to Brazil and creating a \u201cBrazilian Network\u201d fell to EMA Arquitetura, headquartered in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n
Iveco\u2019s return to Brazil was extremely successful. The first nationalized model was the EuroTech, a heavy tractor unit with a traction capacity of 60 to 80 t (4\u00d72 and 6\u00d72), containing approximately 63% of components produced in the country, including the 13.8-liter, 370 hp \u201cmechanical\u201d engine.<\/p>\n
Its spacious cabin originated from the EuroCargo, which, for the first time in a truck of the brand on Brazilian soil, had the desirable feature of being tiltable. The EuroTech\u2019s cabin hid the venerable Fiat 8210 engine, tuned to deliver 370 hp and 1,720 Nm from its 14 liters, breathing with turbo and intercooler.<\/p>\n
In the mid-2000s, the Iveco heavy-duty line received an important addition with the arrival of the first EuroTech 6\u00d74 road vehicle, the 740 E 42TZ, with the most powerful 8210 engine Brazil had ever seen, capable of delivering 420 hp. The model targeted the growing market for double trailers, road trains and similar vehicles, with gross vehicle weight of up to 74 tons.<\/p>\n
From 2004 onwards, the EuroTech began to be retired to make way for the Stralis HD, initially imported from Argentina.<\/p>\n
IVECO Stralis HD (2004 \u2013 2006)
\nThe Stralis HD arrived on the Brazilian market in October 2003 in the 2004 line. It only came in 4\u00d72 models called 450S38T and 450S42T, with a 16-speed manual transmission, and a new engine that broke with the old Fiat 8210 used in the EuroTech and debuted the inline six-cylinder Cursor 13.<\/p>\n
In October 2005, with the 2006 Stralis line, Iveco took advantage of anti-pollution legislation and nationalized the Stralis, which gained the 6\u00d72 (570) and 6\u00d74 (740) options. The engines continued to use the same engines and transmission, initially imported from France (as was the case with the engine in the Argentine model). The rest were unchanged.<\/p>\n
These new 570 and 740 versions were then renamed HD (Heavy Duty).
\nIn October 2006, the Cursor 13 engine began to be manufactured in Brazil in the 2007 line, and in October 2007, the new generation of the Stralis arrived in the 2008 line.<\/p>\n
