The Famous New York Central’s 4-6-4 Hudson Locomotive! This is Pack 1 which will contain the J1 variants of the Hudson. Packs 2 and 3 will have the J2 & J3. The Next 2 packs are dependency packs and will require the J1 pack. I had to break them up due to the sheer size of the mod. I kinda went ham on this.

Small excerpt

Built by Alco, the first J1 Hudson #5200 was put into service in 1927.The NYC tested this locomotive hard. The Hudson came to relieve the lesser powered Pacific K class locomotives. The Hudsons were built for high speed passenger service and pulled various crack trains for the NYC, namely the 20th Century Limited, and the Empire State Express. The locomotive received its name from the NYC president Patrick Crowley whom had a view of the Hudson river from his office. As for the appearance the Hudsons took their que from the K5 Class Pacific’s.

This engine will hopefully plug another hole in the gap of American steam locomotives and be put to work on your railroad! Honestly whenever I think of steam locomotives the first thing that comes to mind is the shape and appearance of the Hudsons. The qunticental steam locomotive.

Later on to rival other big railroad’ newer and streamlined diesels, the NYC streamlined several Hudson locomotives during the art deco era. These are not in this pack.
The streamlined locomotives will appear in another mod in the future.

The Water level route

Included here are
J1A – equiped with the smaller 4 Axle tender
J1B, C, D, E – Equiped with the standard 6 Axle Tender
J1E PT – Equiped with the first PT Heavy Haul Tender.

Locomotives –
J1A-#5200 w/4 Axle
J1B-#5208 w/6 Axle
J2C-#5250 w/6 Axle- Upgraded
J1D-#5370 w/6 Axle- Modernized
J1E-#5327 w/6 Axle- Modernized
J1E-#5333 w/PT-1A

The J1A & J1B have walschaerts gear valve gear the J1C, D, E use the Baker valve gear.

All the Versions above have different piping layouts and other various option parts.

Couplers by Model Citizen
Sounds by Mr. Cheesecake – I do love that NYC 6 Chime whistle!
All units have corresponding assets!
4 LODs to help accomidate the high poly model.
7 Different Camera views!

Stats

Availability –
J1A- 1927
J1B- 1927
J1C- 1928
J1D- 1929
J1E- 1931

Horsepower- 4765
Tractive Effort – 53,266 lbf.
Speed – 110 MPH

Weight –
J1A – 283 Tons
J1B,C,D,E – 338 Tons
J1E- PT Tender – 370 Tons

Trying my hand at balancing. I took what the game set cost would be, and looked between availability, speed, power, of this and other other locomotives. You will find that smaller tender engines have a lower purchase cost, but higher running cost. Larger tender engines will have a higher purchase cost, but less running cost. This is simulate the idea of refueling.

Whats next?

Well taking a break. This project took a bit longer than I anticipated….2 months longer. So for now play some games, and relax.. but the modding bug always bites, and it does so shortly after 1 project ends. So.. what is next? Well I want to go back into my Hudsons and mix em all up. Aiming to work on the streamliners – the Dryfuss, Empire State Express, and the Commodore Vanderbuilt. Though they are Hudsons.. so what is the next actual different locomotive? I plan on going back a bit further to the very early 1900’s and pump out a NYC Heavy Atlantic engine, then forward to a NYC Pacific, like a K11, and or a K5 since the K5B and the Hudson share it’s appearance.. I’ll see what I can get from that. Also throw in some random rolling stock here and there. Big shout out to Meatballhero with his constant
help & parts I was able to borrow. I hope you enjoy these locomotives as much as I will.

Authors: Neighbor Kid

        DOWNLOAD MODS

        DOWNLOAD MODS

The Great Steel Fleet Pack Part 1 Welcome back to another locomotive that I’ve been wanting to get into game for along while.
